Job Title : Junior Research Fellowship (JRFs)
Essential Qualification :
B.E./B.Tech. with first division in any of the following branches along with NET/GATE qualification
Materials Science and Engineering
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
M.Tech./M.E. in any of the branches with first division
at both B.E./ B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. levels
JRF position will be for a maximum period of five (05) years and that of RA for a maximum period of two (02) years.
The tenure of JRF will be initially for a period of 02 years and will be extendable for 3rd 4th and 5th year based on performance and internal assessment but shall not exceed 05 years.
Junior research fellows will be offered a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000/-p.m. for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year (If retained as JRF) & Research Associates will be offered a monthly stipend of Rs. 40,000/- p.m.
The fellows & associates may be provided hostel facility wherever available. Wherever provision for accommodation is not available, HRA may be provided according to central govt. norms.
Medical facilities only for self, available in DRDO may be extended through MI rooms,.
Fellows and RA’s are not entitled to DA, CCA, bonus, childcare leave, LTC etc.
Leave of absence to fellows and associates would be given as per applicable rules.
JRFs and RAs are entitled for contingency grant as per applicable rules.
The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview at DMRL, Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad – 500 058 and should carry a hard copy of the application form along with the testimonials. Interview date and time will be informed in due course by E-mail. No clarifications will be given over phone.
Candidates will be required to produce all certificates/testimonials, community certificate, if applicable, in original during interview. They must also bring a set of attested photocopies of all testimonials along with two recent colour passport size photographs during interview.
The candidate need to produce an original photo identity proof such as Adhaar Card/PAN Card/Driving License/Passport/Voter Id etc. at the time of interview.
The award of fellowship/associateship does not confer on the candidates any right for absorption in DRDO under any circumstances.
Candidates working in Govt/Public sector undertaking / Autonomous bodies should produce no objection certificate to attend the interview.

Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) was established at Hyderabad in 1963 to meet the needs of complex metals and materials required for modern sophisticated warfare weapons systems. Over the years, the Laboratory has acquired a special status as a premier centre for R&D in metals, alloys, ceramic and composites. Since its inception, the Laboratory has developed and established a number of frontline technologies in the area of metallurgy and material science. An infrastructure of advanced experimental facilities has been evolved over decades.
The development at DMRL has led to creation of new technology and production centres in the country. They are – Mishra Dhatu Nigam (Midhani), Non-Ferrous Technology Development Centre (NFTDC) and International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, all at Hyderabad and Heavy Alloy Penetrator Plant (HAPP), an Ordnance Factory, at Tiruchirapally. Today, they are nationally important institutions in their own right.
