Required skills :
5+ years of commercial Linux experience in the enterprise sector, including configuration, troubleshooting, debugging, etc.
IT degree or equivalent experience in the enterprise IT sector; Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator (RHCVA), RHCDA, or other Red Hat-related certifications are preferred
Linux system administration experience
Good theoretical knowledge of networking and UNIX-like services and concepts
Advanced application domain debugging and tuning knowledge; knowledge of enterprise database solutions
Good troubleshooting skills, with a passion for problem solving and investigation; solid customer focus and service orientation
Ability to work with conflicting priorities and use initiative to develop solutions
Knowledge of support systems and tools; understanding of open source technologies and technical support environments
Software development and programming experience is preferred
Scripting abilities in Perl, Python, or Bash are preferred
Expertise in enterprise storage solutions, clustering, cloud, virtualization, system management, control, and automation
Prior participation in open source software projects is preferred

Primary job responsibilities :
Mentor and train engineers within your domain and spread domain expertise within your team as well as across geographically dispersed teams
Collaborate with senior team members to diagnose and resolve issues; propose workarounds when appropriate
Carry out necessary research and file bugs in Red Hat products; provide analysis to fully understand the issue
Propose and discuss fixes, while providing advice and educating customers
Interact with management from the Engineering, Product, and Support teams to prioritize customer requests
Work with Red Hat’s strategic customers on critical production issues involving Red Hat products
Learn about and support newly introduced Red Hat products and technologies
Incorporate your findings into Red Hat’s knowledge base
Work according to customers’ time zones and join escalation phone calls when needed

Job summary : 
The Red Hat Global Support Services team is seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Engineer to provide an excellent customer support experience for our enterprise subscription customers. As a Technical Support Engineer, you will help us continually prove our value to our customers, as you troubleshoot and resolve their technical issues over the phone and online. You’ll become an expert in one or more Red Hat products like Red Hat storage technologies, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Red Hat JBoss Middleware and cloud solutions. Many of your customers will be other engineers, so developing your technical skills is imperative. We’ll need you to clear the Red Hat certifications applicable for the products you specialize in, i.e. the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam.
